Tu gloria Ierusalem. Tu lætitia Israel. Tu honorificentia populi nostri. Tu advocata peccatorum. O Maria, O Maria. Virgo prudentissima. Mater clementissima. Ora pro nobis. Intercede pro nobis. Ad Dominum Iesum Christum. Amen.May 15: Our Lady of the Harvest also called Our Lady of the Wheat« In the Maronite Church there are three unique feasts that celebrate Mary, they are Our Lady of the Seeds, Our Lady of the Harvest and Our Lady of the Grapes. The Syriac Churches developed the earliest Marian theology, focusing on typology, symbolism, creation and the Incarnation. There are textual records of these feasts from the fifth and sixth centuries in the Antiochene Church, but tradition maintains their origins go back to late apostolic times. The feasts are celebrated on the following dates: January 15 — Our Lady of the Seeds; May 15 — Our Lady of the Harvest; August 15 — Our Lady of the Grapes.
It is possible that these feasts grew out of earlier agricultural feasts and they are linked with the natural seasons of the Earth. In Syriac thought, creation does not only contain symbols of God, rather in it, everything has been placed to reveal God in his hiddenness.
There is a connection between these feast and the Mystery of the Eucharist. The three feasts yield the ingredients for bread and wine and link the Virgin Mary to the Eucharist. They reveal God’s divine plan.
Their symbolism is best captured in the celebration of Maronite Mass. As the gifts are being received on the altar, we chant:Alleluia! Our Lord Jesus said "I am the Bread of Life. From the Father I was sent as Word without flesh to give new life. Of the Virgin Mary I was born, taking flesh as man; as good earth receives a seed, her womb received me. Priestly hands now lift me high above the altars." Alleluia! Our gifts, Lord, receive.»May 15: Our Lady of France, Rocher Corneille, Le Puy, France«In LePuy, France, there is a massive rock, probably of volcanic origin, called Rocher Corneille (Cornelius' Rock). It towers almost 2,500 feet above sea level.
«On the very top of this huge pedestal, there is an enormous metal statue of the Blessed Virgin and Child, erected in 1860. The figure of the virgin, approximately fifty-five feet high, stands upon a globe; above her head is a starry crown, her feet crush a serpent. The Infant sits on her right arm, His right hand raised in blessing of the entire countryside.
«According to tradition, at some time between the third and fourth centuries, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to a local woman with an incurable disease, telling her to climb Mt Corneille where she would be cured by the simple act of sitting on the great stone. Doing as she was bidden, the woman was miraculously cured of her disease.
«The Mother of God appeared to the woman a second time, telling her to contact the local bishop and let him know that she wanted a church built on the hill. When the bishop climbed the hill himself, he found the ground and stones covered in deep snow, even though it was the middle of July. A doe, all alone, walked gracefully though the snow, tracing the ground plan of the cathedral that the Queen of Heaven desired to be built. Some time later, when the bishop visited the spot again that same summer, he was amazed to see flowering blooms that had taken the place of the thorn bushed that had previously outlined the chapel.
«Convinced by these miracles of the authenticity of Mary’s wishes, the bishop decided to have a chapel built here. The project to build the statue was actually initiated in 1847 with the desire to construct a religious monument to recognize the area of Puy-en-Velay. In order to find a worthy model of the Blessed Virgin and her Divine Son, a competition was held having very specific requirements, such as "the Child Jesus is to be depicted blessing the city of Puy without hiding the face of His Mother." In all, 55 artists participated, and the winning model selected at the end of the competition was the statue submitted by J. Bonnassieux.
«Donations to pay for the construction were collected from all over France. Three years later, the 105 main parts of the statue and the accompanying 900 smaller pieces were transported to Puy and hoisted into position to erect the statue of Our Lady of France. Once completed, its total weight was 835 tons, with 110 tons for the statue, 680 tons for the granite pedestal to support it, and 45 tons for the coating that protects the statue.
«Here atop the majestic rock, the Blessed Virgin is honored under the title, "Our Lady of France." It stands on the road which passes the shrine of Our Lady of the Thorn high up in the Jura Mountains, there is the shrine of Our Lady of Puy. All crusaders passed this on their way to the Holy Land on pilgrimage to rescue the Holy Places from the hands of the infidel. There was scarcely a knight who did not go to bid farewell to Our Lady of Puy and ask her to care for his dear ones, should he not return. The town was also famous for being one of the main starting points on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.»- Festa dei Ceri or the Festival of the Runners, vigil of St Ubald of Gubbio, May 16, 1160 AD;
